Siri & Kona

Introducing Our Ambassador Wolfdogs

Siri and Kona were rescued at 8 weeks old from a former sanctuary in Idaho and cannot survive in the wild due to their upbringing with humans.
Siri is bold and outgoing, and Kona is careful and curious.
They are both very friendly and demanding of belly rubs. They know commands SIT and DOWN, and perform them eagerly, should they choose. Licking faces, hiding food in their den, and playfully chasing each other are some of their regular activities.
Although they resemble wild wolves, their behaviour is distinct due to being raised on our property as members of our pack of dogs, along with two cats and three horses.
They grew up learning to trust us and their surroundings. Being bottle-fed by people since they were 1-2 weeks old, they experienced positive interactions with their pack and humans. Siri and Kona have become extremely trusting and loving toward people.
Wild wolves are naturally fearful of humans, and exhibit distinct behaviours from wolfdogs like Siri and Kona.
Wolf characteristics that are expressed in wolfdogs, to varying degrees, include a prey drive, high energy, fear of people, territorial behaviour, destructiveness, independence, and the ability to jump fences and escape.
Caring for them has provided challenges, as they are highly socialized with people and dependent on human care, requiring a large amount of attention, space, and resources. Many wolfdogs bred in captivity and sold as novelty pets are inevitably surrendered and euthanized when their needs become too demanding to handle reasonably.
Meeting Siri and Kona is a unique and unforgettable experience. We want to share their magic with you in the hopes of inspiring a passion for wolf conservation. Once you form a heart connection to them and their story, a passion for protecting wild wolves and their critical habitat ensues.
Siri and Kona represent the importance of protecting wild animals and their natural environments. They inspire us daily to be a voice for their wild relatives.
